オシロスコープ的なLissajous図形をベースに、いま聴こえている音が(電気信号を通して)映像でもあるという点に関して、同時にヴィジュアル上で波形を「お絵描き」することで音が映像-電気信号を介して直接変化していく、お絵描きオーディオ・ヴィジュアル・シンセサイザーのプロトタイプ
特にこの「お絵描き」シンセサイザーにおけるLissajous図形は、いわゆるシンセサイザーのwavetable2次元(XY)バージョンのような立ち位置にあり、単純な音声信号（周期をもつ）の波形をX-Y波形／Y-T波形ディスプレイの行き来をしながら相互的に直接描きながら音作りをしていくことができることに特徴がある。
※エレキ万博2025での展示では、YT波形のインタラクションは処理の最適化に苦戦したため、タッチできない仕様にした。
一般的にLissajous図形のビジュアル上の変化は基本的には2ch（L／R波形）の「位相差」にあり、ここではパラメータとして「周波数比」を変えることによって、ビジュアル上の変化具合と音の変化具合の気持ちよさを同時に探ることができる。
今回採用しているLissajousビジュアルの仕組みは厳密なオシロスコープのXY表示とは異なり、周期をもった単純な波形についてのLissajous図形である。
これがけっきょくのところごちゃごちゃなカオスに陥らず、なおかつシンプルに直感的な操作感を得られると思われる。
A prototype of a “drawing” audio-visual synthesizer built on oscilloscope-style Lissajous figures. It treats the sound being heard as an image (via electrical signals), and by “drawing” the waveform on the visual display, the sound is directly altered through the image–electrical-signal pathway.
In this “drawing” synthesizer, the Lissajous figure effectively plays the role of a two-dimensional (XY) version of a wavetable. Its hallmark is that you can craft sound by directly sketching simple periodic audio waveforms while moving back and forth between X–Y and Y–T waveform displays.
Generally, visual changes in Lissajous figures arise from the phase difference between the two channels (L/R waveforms). Here, by varying the frequency ratio parameter, one can simultaneously explore a pleasing correspondence between visual change and sonic change. The Lissajous visualization used here differs from a strict oscilloscope X–Y display; it is a Lissajous representation tailored to simple periodic waveforms. This helps avoid devolving into messy chaos and yields a simple, intuitive feel.
